Netflix To Air ‘Inspector Gadget’ Reboot

By Wes Smith

Netflix will air a 3D-animated reboot of the popular 1980’s cartoon through it’s streaming service beginning March 27, 2015, the company announced today.

The move comes alongside a slate of children’s programming that will also include Danger Mouse, Some Assembly Required, and two other shows.

The 26-episode series, produced by DHX Media, will follow a similar plot to the original series about a bumbling detective with a bionic arsenal as he tries to stop the evil Dr. Claw.

“We’ve seen great characters and rich storytelling work for a global audience time and time again,” said Erik Barmack, Vice President of Global Independent Content in a press release. “That’s why we’re proud to be working with some of the industry’s best producers and animators on these shows and we can’t wait for kids and families all over the world to get to know these stories.”

According to USA Today, the reboot already aired in Europe through the Canada-based DHX Media, but the streaming service will bring it to the United States and other territories for the first time through a children’s programming initiative launched in 2011.

The series will feature the voices of Ivan Sherry (Gadget), Martin Roach (Dr. Claw), and Tara Strong (Penny).
