The geek-themed fashion house has partnered with The Araca Group to promote new female voices in writing, owner Ashley Eckstein announced Saturday at New York Comic Con.
The new brand, called Her Universe Press, will focus on sci-fi and fantasy works from new and aspiring writers while aiming at the Youth and Young Adult markets. The imprint will release books at major booksellers, including Barnes and Noble.
For the program, Eckstein has teamed with Permuted Press, a house with nearly 25 New York Times Bestsellers.
“I’m so excited to finally announce Her Universe Press,” said Eckstein in a press release. ” I felt that Her Universe Press was necessary because so many fans were presenting me with their manuscripts with no professional outlet or opportunity to publish their work. I’m thrilled to be able to provide a platform for these stories to be told via books, entertainment, merchandise and beyond!”
The first two books are schedule for release in early 2016. The first, The Confidence Chronicles, is a steampunk series created by Eckstein and author Anne Convery with illustrations by Dave Filoni. The second, Weirdest, comes from comic book specialist Heather Nuhfer.
