Blizzard announced their new expansion, Legion, today at their Gamescom conference in Cologne, Germany.
The eagerly-awaited expansion reveal showcased a new continent, dungeons, artifact weapons, new Honor system, and the new Demon Hunter hero class.
Heroes will travel to the Broken Isles, an ancient land mention in Warcraft lore that houses the tomb of Sargeras, the evil Titan considered by many to be Warcraft’s ultimate villain. New zones await, including the home of the Vry’kul, and players will be able to craft customizable artifact weapons, including Ashbringer and Doomhammer.
Demon Hunters will be an elf-only leather class, according to the new Class Page on the official site. Players will be able to see certain events from the Burning Crusade through Illidan’s eyes as they level their new class.
The announcement of a new expansion comes the week Activision announced subscriptions to World of Warcraft have dropped to around 5 million, the game’s lowest point in its 11-year history. It still remains the largest MMO on the market.
Legion is now available for pre-order on the official website with more information as development continues.
