On a day filled with announcements, the long-rumored Apple Watch was unveiled today at an Apple event in Cupertino, California.
The watch, which has not been officially named the iWatch, will feature Apple’s Retina display, LEDs and photosensors that detect pulserates, and a digital crown replacing the tuners of a standard watch.
Apple CEO Tim Cook showcased a video presentation of the watch on a day filled with company announcements. He promised the watch would separate itself from other company devices.
“What we didn’t do was take the iPhone and shrink the user interface and slap it on your wrist,” Cook said.
The Watch can interface with other Apple devices, however, a standard feature among Apple products.
The company also made other announcements at the event, including the iPhone 6 and the ApplePay purchasing system.
