Gamespot Releases ‘World of Warcraft’ Graphics Comparison

By Wes Smith

Gamespot has released a new video showcasing character model upgrades for the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion, Warlords of Draenor.

The six-minute video compares the new character models in the expansion with the models from the last release, Mists of Pandaria. The new models appear to have new facial expressions, more joints in extremities, and new skin tones.

New character models for the game’s original races have been in demand for the 10-year-old game. Creators Blizzard Entertainment have been considering the upgrades a top selling point for the expansion.

“With the revamp, we’re completely overhauling every aspect of the player models, but our goal is to do so while retaining the core look and feel that has always made them your character,” Senior Art Director Chris Robinson wrote in a blog on the WoW site.

The Warlords of Draenor expansion, the fifth for the game, has an expected release of Fall 2014. World of Warcraft is one of the most successful games of all time, boasting over seven million current subscribers.
